Our Money's on MONEY

|

Oscar De La Hoya might be the king of boxing pay-per-view, but Floyd Mayweather lives up to his nickname, "Money," by virtue of being the sport's all-time leader in average revenue generated per PPV fight.

In six PPV fights, Mayweather (40-0, 25 KOs) has generated 5.5 million buys and $292 million in revenue, which averages out to about $48.6 million a fight, nearly $12 million more a fight than De La Hoya averaged in 19 PPV fights.

"It feels good to be the pay-per-view king as I have always believed in myself, and obviously a lot of other people do, too," Mayweather said Monday. "They keep coming back for more, and I am glad to give them what they want. I always try to entertain the fans, whether it's in the ring or with the things I say and do."

Mayweather's welterweight mega-fight Saturday against "Sugar" Shane Mosley (46-5-0, 39 KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas is expected to threaten the pay-per-view record of 2.4 million buys set in Mayweather's fight with De La Hoya in December 2007.

Watch the fight live on PPV at Kalapaki Joe's beginning at 3:00 p.m. Hawaii time.

Pacquiao and Clottey Weigh In for the Big Fight

|

A weigh-in at the $1.2 billion Cowboys Stadium isn't just a normal one.

With screaming fans and the plaza doors open to show the massive video board as a backdrop, Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey weighed in Friday for their Saturday night WBO welterweight title fight.

Pacquiao, the champion, came in at 145¾. Clottey was at 147.

Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, said he wasn't concerned about his fighter's weight. Pacquiao averaged about 152 pounds per day during training.

"After he stopped drinking protein shakes, the weight drops," said Roach, who added his fighter weighed 144 on Friday morning.

The fighters tried to stare each other down after the weigh-in but broke out in laughter.

The weigh-in was attended by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who said this inaugural fight at the stadium is "hopefully one of many."

Promoter Bob Arum said he expects the fight to have at least 1 million pay-per-view buys with the fight shown in more than 80 million homes worldwide.

Come down to Kalapaki Joe's in the Harbor Mall at beautiful Kalapaki Beach to watch Manny Pacquiao, the world best fighter, and Joshua Clottey in the WBO welterweight title fight.

See you there!

The boxing world has been rocked by racial actions from Floyd Mayweather Jr and his representatives. But this shouldn’t be a surprise. I’m here to tell you all that the Mayweathers have been nothing but racist toward Manny Pacquiao and all Filipinos.

Pacquaio vs. Clottey-- MARCH 13th

|
After the Pacquiao/Mayweather fight fizzled out last week due to Pacquiao's refusal to meet Mayweather's "unrealistic" demands of performance-enhancing drug screening, Manny Pacquiao is now set to meet Joshua Clottey in Dallas at Cowboys Stadium on March 13.

“This is a very significant fight and I’m truly ecstatic,” Dallas Cowboys ownder Jerry Jones told Yahoo! Sports by telephone on Sunday. “From the time we began work on the stadium, I envisioned bringing boxing here. We have a very large Hispanic fan base surrounding us and they’re very loyal boxing fans. I think they’ll be thrilled with this event.”

Come down to Kalapaki Joe's on March 13th for all the Pacquaio action!
