Ansagay Wins With a Triangle Choke!

Kalapaki Joe's own Domenick Ansagay made us proud last night when he defeated his opponent with a triangle choke at the Kauai MMA "Mayhem at the Mansion" at Kilohana.



Domenick's crowd-pleasing win was one of only two tap-outs of the night. Congratulations Domenick!

Misery for Italy

In an historic World Cup first, neither the reigning champions or the runners-up from the previous edition have reached Round 16 at South Africa 2010. With France having exited on Tuesday, today was the turn of holders Italy to bow out after a dramatic 3-2 defeat by Slovakia.

Sadly, the Italian team joined France in packing their bags for home.

Switzerland beats Spain!

Switzerland upset the soccer world this morning when they beat European champion and tournament favorite Spain.

Switzerland's Gelson Fernandes scored the winning goal by pouncing on a loose ball and forcing it into the net in the 52nd minute. “To be fair, I’m not used to scoring goals, so I was a bit surprised,” said Fernandes, who got just his second in international play. “It was a bit of luck.”

Spain badly outshot the Swiss and held the ball 63 percent of the time, but could find no way through Switzerland’s determined defense.

“Today wasn’t our day,” Spain coach Vicente del Bosque said. “We have two games ahead of us. We have to find a way to win them.”
